Getting there and the Trelleborg terminal

The ferry departs from the port of Trelleborg, Sweden's southernmost town. As your sat-nav destination enter Norra Nyhamnsgatan 1b, 231 61 Trelleborg. Trelleborg is the endpoint of the E6 motorway, which comes from Malmö and, via the Öresund Bridge, from Copenhagen; from Malmö it's only around 30 kilometres to the terminal.

If you're arriving by car, follow the signs to the ferry port. Foot passengers check in at the terminal building and are taken from there to the ship.

Check-in and departure

TT-Line sails mostly overnight, so you board in the evening and arrive in Klaipėda the following day. With a vehicle you must be checked in at the latest 90 minutes before departure. Online check-in is more convenient: around 48 hours before departure TT-Line emails you the access link, so you only need to show the barcode at the port.

Carry a valid ID document, a national ID card or passport is enough. Sweden and Lithuania are both in the Schengen area, so fixed border checks generally don't apply on the crossing.

On board

The route is operated by TT-Line with its own ships; via the space charter it's also bookable through DFDS. Since most departures are overnight sailings, it makes sense to book a cabin, from an inside cabin to one with a sea view, with comfort and accessible cabins as well as reclining seats also available. On board you'll find restaurants with the Baltic Menu, a breakfast buffet, lounges, an onboard shop and a sauna area; you can pre-order meals at a discount when booking.

Payment on board is by card. TT-Line also accepts cash in euros and Swedish kronor, so you don't need a separate currency for the crossing.

Vehicle, bike and pets

Pets are welcome on board and are registered when booking. There are dedicated pet cabins for up to two animals; dogs are allowed on a lead on the passenger decks, and there's a dog toilet on the rear outer deck.

Arrival in Klaipėda and onward travel

In Klaipėda the ferry docks at TT-Line's own terminal on Minijos g. 180. From the port city you can reach the seaside resorts around Palanga quickly, the capital Vilnius and Kaunas within a few hours' drive, and neighbouring Latvia with Riga by road. Klaipėda is thus a direct entry point into the Baltics.

Since Sweden and Lithuania both belong to the EU and the Schengen area, you continue your journey without customs formalities. If you're coming from Germany via Sweden, it's worth comparing this with the overnight ferry Karlshamn - Klaipėda, which crosses the Baltic Sea further east in less time.
