Getting there and the Rostock terminal
The ferries depart from the Überseehafen in Rostock, Zum Fährterminal 1, 18147 Rostock. From Berlin, the route runs via the A19; the east-west link is handled by the A20, from which the port is signposted. TT-Line operates its own ferry terminal with a waiting area, bistro, step-free access and car parks. Without a car you reach the port by train to Rostock Hauptbahnhof, then tram 2 or 3 to Dierkower Kreuz, and from there bus 19 or 49 to Rostock-Seehafen Fähre.
Check-in and departure
Check-in usually opens around two hours before departure and closes for vehicles 30 minutes before. In the peak season, and if you're travelling with a motorhome or car-and-trailer, it's best to arrive earlier, while for some off-season departures boarding starts later. For the crossing to Klaipėda your ID is scanned at check-in, so have your national ID card or passport ready - children also need their own document. If you're travelling on foot or by bike, report to the terminal building; a high-visibility vest is required for cycling through the port. Since you're travelling for 24 to 31 hours depending on the connection, a cabin is part of the package on this route, booked as an extra when reserving. On board you'll find a restaurant, an onboard shop and seating areas, plus a Comfort package with a meal and soft drink and, during the day, an optional day cabin. Families benefit from the Family Lunch, where children up to 6 eat free and up to 12 at half price. Vehicle, bike and pets
Cars, motorhomes, car-and-trailer combinations, motorcycles and bicycles are all carried without any trouble; state the exact dimensions including add-ons when booking. Pets travel along too: for overnight sailings with a cabin requirement there's a limited number of pet cabins with a maximum of two animals per cabin, plus designated areas on deck. Arrival in Klaipėda and onward travel
In Klaipėda you arrive at the TT-Line terminal, Minijos g. 180. Some departures instead use the neighbouring terminal at Baltijos pr. 40, which will be stated on your ticket. Klaipėda is Lithuania's largest port and a good starting point for the Baltic states: from here you can reach the Curonian Spit, Kaunas, the capital Vilnius and Latvian Riga by car. In Lithuania, dipped headlights are mandatory year-round during the day, winter tyres are required from 10 November to 1 April, and a fire extinguisher and high-visibility vests for all occupants must be carried in the vehicle.
